What started as a small cotton farm in North Louisiana in the late 1800’s, was eventually transformed into a cattle operation in the 1950’s. I spent much of my youth on the farm with my Great Uncle Hardy and Grandma Greene. It was during this time that I developed a love of the land, farming and Angus cattle. Although my dad left the farm to go to college and eventually join the United States Air Force, he stayed connected to the land and to agriculture eventually becoming the Associate Director of the Extension Service. Like much of the property in that part of the state, the original homestead was planted in pine trees and all the cattle were sold in the 1980’s. After graduating from veterinary school in 1982, and settling in northern St. Tammany Parish, the dream of someday carrying on the Greene Family legacy came to fruition with the formation of Greeneline Angus in 1993. Our two sons, Ben and Matt, have been involved in the day to day operations since the beginning and continue to play a vital role in the management of the business.
